For more than a century, Greemann’s Furniture & Mattress Gallery has proudly served families in Seymour, Indiana and the surrounding Southern Indiana communities. As a family-owned and operated furniture store, we are committed to providing high-quality home furnishings, trusted brands, and exceptional customer service.

Our History

The Greemann family legacy began on March 11, 1919, when Harvey W. Greemann and his wife Mary opened the Reliable Furniture Store at 210–212 West Second Street in downtown Seymour. Before opening the retail store, Harvey was already deeply involved in the furniture industry through the Greemann Brothers furniture manufacturing factories located in Seymour and Batesville, Indiana.

In 1937, Harvey retired from active management, and his sons Wilford (Bill) Greemann and Harvey G. Greemann continued the family business. In 1940, the store moved to its current location at 205 South Chestnut Street, expanding the showroom to four times its original size.

During World War II, both Wilford and Harvey were called to serve their country in 1942. During this time, the north side of the current showroom building was used by the USO, providing entertainment and recreation for servicemen stationed at Freeman Field.

Growing Through Generations

Following the war, Greemann’s Furniture reopened on May 14, 1946, and quickly became a trusted destination for quality furniture and home furnishings in Seymour, Indiana. The business continued to grow under the leadership of the Greemann family for decades.

In 1977, Wilford Greemann became the sole owner of the business. When he retired in 1980, his son Nicholas Greemann took over management, proudly continuing the family tradition that began with his grandparents. In 2018, Shawn and Chris Busby purchased Greemann's Furniture.
